Baby Cassius

Our dear friends welcomed a new addition to their beautiful family, baby Cassius. My fingers had been busy for months making him some sweet treats!
I made him a sweet cardigan using o-wool balance and the neck down baby sweater pattern. I also made him some shiny moss overalls using dream in color worsted and the On-the-go-veralls pattern. Finally I made him some a pair of saartje booties to match his overalls.

Hats and Shawls for the Holidays!

Even in the midst of a crazy break neck busy schedule of school, work, and family rearing, I still wanted to keep my hands busy in the evenings creating. Knitting is my meditation, my time to be creative, and my passion. Throughout the fall, my favorite season, I delighted in making my family and friends caps and shawls for Christmas.
I made:
Weiner Dog cap for Bijou (my girl)
R2D2 cap for Jack (my boy)
Bike cap for my hubby
Stormtrooper cap for my brother Hunter
The Conway Cloche for my sister Halley
The textured shawl recipe for my friends Mary and Kathy
and
The Shaelyn shawl for my friend Jacque!
Phew and Yay!

Expecto Patronum!

This Halloween Bijou and Jack decided to gear up in ropes and wands and become Harry and Hermoine. I love their costume choice this year as they could rock their usual sneakers and cozy cloths for a chilly fall night of trick-or-treating with out freezing! Our neighborhood really got in the spirit this year and it was tons of fun to get to see what everyone had done with their home... and even enjoy a homemade haunted house!

Big Kid Rooms

August 2010
It is time, or rather past time... that the kids get their own separate rooms! Now that our attic room is free and our daughter is almost 10 years old, its time! The end of the summer was the perfect opportunity to get their rooms cozy and cute. We started with Jack's room.. we let him pick the colors. He just got a big kid bunk bed so all the room needed was his special touch. He chose galactic green, yup.... little mermaid blue, and orange (all from the Disney colors at home depot). We went for it, not sure as to the end result and it turned out wonderfully! Even the orange doors, his idea :)
Big sis Bij, was jealous and chomping at the bit to have her room done too. We decided to plan a surprise. We sent her with Nana for the day and got to work. She came home to a finished room!
Phew! We were so thankful to get their rooms done, and just in time for school to start too!

Farm Concert Love

Kruger Farm's summer concerts on Sauvie Island have been a special part of our summers for 3 years now. Each Thursday we look forward to packing up blankets, chairs, snacks, and knitting for a dusky summer treat. The music is like the farm, down home and full of heart. Kids run through the big farm sprinkler, pick berries with juice covered paws, and pay a visit to Mathilda the resident pig. Adults enjoy fresh roasted corn, pulled pork sandwiches, and homemade family beer out of mason jars. Other special treats have included hay rides, bon fires, and helping the Audubon society release rehabilitated owls. Not to mention the barn full of fresh farm fruits and veggies, u-pick flowers, and berries! We heart the farm!

Early Fall Treat

I was inspired by a wonderful Pewter colored cotton called Glaciar Del Cielo. I decided to use it to make the lovely and charming Aestlight Shawl by Gudrun Johnston. It was a treat to make and an even bigger treat to wear! Woot woot and YAY!

State Fair

Each year we look forward to Oregon State Fair. It isn't just the giant winning Dahlias, the rows of gorgeous fiber critters, chickens, innovative kitchen utensils, chainsaw log sculptures, cake decorating contests, quilting, and pie. But its a gathering of real people, sometimes too real, and community. For us urban folk, its a chance to connect back with our rural roots. This year we went again with my dear friend Jacque. She likes to do fair in style... treating the kids to and avatar makeover and herself to a spray painted custom cap. Only at the State Fair!

Raspberry Star

What better way to finish a summer off then crocheting with your favorite buttery soft cotton yarn. I heart Blue Sky Alpacas and I especially heart their incredible color way called Cumin! Ahhhh I would love to knit with it all the time. I was sad to hear recently that they discontinued Cumin!! So sad! Any how I decided to crochet my second star blanket for a special little gal's big girl birthday present. I striped the cumin with a steel gray and raspberry! Yum. Not only did it turn out soft and cozy but pretty gorgeous too!
