Christmas Stockings!

My mom made all 5 of us kids and her two grand kids these wonderful needlepoint stockings. Each of them unique, backed by red crushed velvet, lined with bells, and favored by their recipient. I have sworn to one day archive these puppies as they are all so special. But here is a peak at her sweets works.

Christmas Cherry Pie

My mom, Anastasia, out did herself this year with this gorgeous cherry pie.

Wild Things

My daughter Bijou just turned 9! For each of the kids birthday they get to request a theme cake from their Nana. This has been a tradition since my siblings and I were young. I have tried to convince my mom to at least archive these puppies, as they are amazing! So I will do my part and share them as I come across new photos. For Bijou, she wanted a wild things cake. Nana did such a magical job of recreating the wild things parading through the jungle. Complete with Bijou and our dog Jimmy. It was such a special surprise.

Ben Buttons Cowl 2

I made a super quick cowl a year ago and called it my Benjamin Buttons Cowl. As Brad was born an old man I was just casting on and I did my cast off as he was a toddler. I was not in love with the movie like everyone else, but I was in love with my soft new cowl. Both cowls I used a super bulky alpaca which knits up like butter and is super soft and warm. I did a simple seed stitch and waa la!

Birthday Glovelettes

Finished the first pair of sweet diagonal eyelet hand warmers. Just in time to give to my friend Kathy for her birthday. The kids made her this sweet card too.. of her favorite creature the sea horse.

Thankful!

The kids had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday learning all the tricks of the trade from their nana! She let them in on her secrets from her amazing pumpkin pie to her giant organic turkey. We spent two glorious days baking, knitting, and playing all cozy in our pj's by a fire. This is what holidays are for! To be close to the ones you love, to rejuvenate, and to give thanks for all that you have.

Halloween

We were so lucky to have a dry and gorgeous Halloween this year. Fall leaves are still abound and there is still some warmth left in the air. The kids and I had a relaxing and fun time this year, even amidst hectic schedules and mini colds. They got all dressed up for school fun, we had a pumpkin pancake breakfast.. mmm with pumpkin butter, pumpkin carving in pajamas, and a super trick or treat night. Bijou was a super witch and even put a spell on doxie Jimmy to be her witchly brew for pictures. Jackson embodied Indiana Jones perfectly, even climbing trees for artifacts. All in all a great season and a great holiday!

Fall Love!

We have been soaking up every bit of this gorgeous fall weather that we can. Playing out at the farms, raking leaves, and enjoying the general splendor that is Fall. I love how the neighborhood looks like it just got snowed on by a dozen different colored leaves. While we are harvesting pumpkins and squash there are babies being born all over the city! I got started on some more fruit caps and a new little pear cap.

Fabulous Fall!

Fall is my all time favorite season. It is always crisp and warm somehow at the same time. The colors are vibrant and gorgeous and it is the season of harvest! In addition to spending as much time visiting farms with the kids, I also love to knit in this weather. I feel it's like preparing for winter. My first fall project is a pair of Prairie Boots for my friend Jen for her birthday. Her all time fav color is purple so I picked a great plum color in good ol Lamb's Pride. Next up is to pick out some buttons! It requires 6 for each boot! I'm getting to it!

Star

I finished the star blanket, my first crochet project. I really love it and enjoy crochet! Jimmy liked it too!

Roller Skatin!

We took advantage of a rainy Saturday afternoon and caught the early skate at Oakes
Park. It was all we dreamed of and more! We held hands, the three of us, and wobbled around the outside of the rink to great hits from groups like the C&C music factory. We dodged other skaters, and admired the truly seasoned ones that whizzed by doing cool dance moves. In short, we had an incredible time and plan on going back for more!

Flock and Fiber

This years flock and fiber in Canby was blessed with gorgeous weather. We spent all day Sunday browsing yarns and fibers, and checking out the flocks. My favorite this year are the Shetlands. I just love them. They weren't bleating obnoxiously like the goat guys and they have the coolest horns every. They also seem like a bunch of sweet fellows! We also love the alpaca, ofcourse, even with their earie little noises they make. I was dissapointed that this year there weren't any yaks. Maybe next year. I purchased a couple of gorgeous hand dyes and the day was complete!
