Rosario Resort

On the first rainy day we visited a museum at Rosario Resort. It is the home of Robert Moran, a ship builder and mayor of Seattle. He purchased a chunk of the island back around the turn of the century and built the sprawling resort from the ground up. Later he donated the land to the public. Everything was beautiful and inspired from his days as a ship builder. Handcrafted molding and furniture everywhere, incredible light fixtures, an indoor salt water pool, and a music room that make you weep! It had the most gorgeous stain glass accents! Another interesting note was that he purchased the old street lights from Seattle and used them to line the pathways. Incredible place!

Raspberry Season!

We were blessed with an already established back fence full of the most plump and juicy raspberries! It is our favorite thing each year to graze daily on the sweet treats! I have yet to pull off a jam but we have had toppers for pancakes, ice cream, and yogurt! This year our new pup doxie, Jimmy, has indulged selecting only the ripe ones and carefully eating them off the vine. The kids will usually have red faces for a month! LOVE

Dreamy Alpaca

I stopped into Orcas Island's LYS called Poppies Fine Yarns. It was a sweet little shop with a super warm and welcoming vibe. The owner was down to earth and kind and showed me a dangerous little cubby of new local yarns she carried. Amongst the delish pile I found a heavenly skein of buttery soft cream colored alpaca and merino. It was made by her friend, she told me, who delighted in naming each skein after its wooly contributor. In this case it was Prada and Chanel! I would have loved to meet Prada and Chanel but our time there was coming to an end! After careful consideration I chose that skein, only $24!!! for handspun! and some new mission falls wood buttons for my Feb gal sweater! Yay!

Oyster Time!

This was the treat of all camping treats! Just caught oysters from Judd cove. They were sold at a little store down the way. All we needed was Timmy's trusty camping knife, some fresh lemon, and wa laa! Delish! We bought some more the next day!

Orcas Island Heaven!

We camped for 4 blissful nights on Orcas Island and were welcomed with gorgeous weather, incredible landscape, and awesome wildlife. We island hopped one of the days to San Juan Island and were treated to a close up of one of the native pods. Not only were there new babies but they were all happily leaping and breaching the water! It was truly incredible. I brought along my February Sweater project and got to work on it along the way! Ahhh it was hard to come home!

Love!!!

Bijou surprised us and her Nana with a hand picked bouquet and a sweet sweet note! I just dropped her at her last day of 2nd grade and I am so proud of the big girl she's become! xoxo

Finals Week Glovelettes!

I knitted these fuzzy little guys during a very stressful finals week of papers and biology! In between studying digestion and circulation I would take a break and work those little V lace patterns... My long time, of 8 years, co-worker and friend is moving to Colorado. I knew she could use something soft and warm to keep her cozy!
I used 2 balls of GGH Soft Kid held together on size 5 double points. I was inspired by Laura Irwin's, "soft kid bubble dress", from her book Boutique Knits. I topped them off with a crocheted picot edge.
