Winter Beach

We got to spend 3 glorious days in Newport soaking up every bit of sun we could. Mornings were spent with an immediate walk on the beach to some peaceful dunes for play and stretching. Our doxie Jimmy was so thrilled to be off leash in the sand he would race around in circles for ever! We enjoyed delicious fresh seafood, lighthouse tour, and the OSU Hatfield center. The kids earned their Yaquina Lighthouse junior ranger badges and I got some much needed R and R! Oh and we vised a wonderful yarn shop... called Yarn for all seasons!

First Yarn Harvest!

I came home to a big box of goatling wool on my porch! It has been almost 10 months since it was dropped off at the fiber lady. It was a long wait for a little yarn. I was surprised first to find how beautiful the yarn turned out! The color was gorgeous. It was definitely not a worsted weight as suggested, more sport. There was also only 4 skeins of it. The rest was a huge powder puff ball of dirt and debris! A lot of dirt and debris, I was shocked! I could tell that it had been washed and carded but never thought it would create a plume of dirt where ever it went. Literally the whole table was covered. I have sent a message to the processors to get some answers... as I am totally confused! Aside from the confusion and dirt, I am thrilled to have it in my hands and to consider what it will become!

Pizz-ettes!

I used some yummy sour dough English muffins from Trader Joes and went a little crazy on the toppings! We had basil tomato sauce, olive oil, salt, pepper, zucchini, onion, peppers, spinach, mushroom, mozzarella, and some parm to top it off! Super tasty and low cal/fat too!

Sweetlets!

I made up a few meathead hats for two very special girls and for a special occasion. Juni's very first birthday! Miss Fiona just had her birthday last month so it was a great opportunity to give some snugglies to celebrate!

winter organics bin feast

It's fun trying to make meals out of our winter organics bin. Root veggies help a lot and this week we had some beautiful beets and turnips. I roasted those with some sweet potatoes, olive oil, pepper, and sea salts. Then cooked up a mix of pesto chicken sausage, greens, red onion, carrots, and garlic. As a treat on the side I put organic orange and kiwi. Winter? what winter!

Fairy Falls

A new year, good friend, and her new pup. All deserves a great hike. We went with Jacque and Slayer Ann to hike Fairy Falls in the gorge. It was a perfect crisp day mixed with plenty of oxygen and a great breeze. Ideal for plenty of steep switch backs. I'm always so proud of the kids on these hikes as they are true trail blazers. Mr. Jimmy too.

Christmas Cookie Time!

The kids had a super time cutting out the old classic cookie shapes. Christmas trees, bells, stars, snowmen, and their favorite gingerbread peeps.
