Last May we became official chicky owners. I grew up raising chickens so it was a real blessing to have the space and the opportunity for our family to have them too. We found a super coop on craigslist.. from chicken farmer floyd! He built it himself... predator proofed it and all. It is a good sized coop and run. We bought our girls as pullets... about 10 weeks old. Bijou chose "Sugar" an austra white.. and now the leader of the pack. Jack chose "Lady Hawk" a golden wyandot. Tim chose "Rose" our Rhode Island Red. I chose "Pepper" our Bard Rock. Sadly a week later Pepper got loose and Daisy the cat caught her.... Fast forward 8 months and the girls are doing great. They are all laying except Lady Hawk who is on strike. I think she wanted to be the leader but Sugar beat her too it. They enjoy pecking around the yard and garden, pooping on the deck, and meeting new folks that come by to visit. We heart our chickens!
